If the God offers me only a choice of eternal boredom or eternal torture in hereafter what’s freakin point?
What’s a freakin point then? This one big problem of religious people, so they spin and try to make things sound nice, yet it comes down on this anyway. What’s a point or what? Huh?
I never understood it. The idea of “eternal life” certainly appeals to my survival instinct, but when I actually consider it, it just sounds horrible. Similar to Tuck Everlasting – where life is something that is no longer precious. It just is.
Not to say that I wouldn’t like to live for maybe two or three hundred years. But I’d rather do it on earth, where I could witness our changing civilization.
Its possible people are forgetting one key thing – pleasure is related to pain. Its why, after a long hike up a mountain, a meal tastes so much better. Its why, after going out for a five mile run, you feel more satisfied sitting in front of the tv. I wouldn’t want to live somewhere perfect because pleasure would be dulled. And yes, it would become boring. Furthermore, what is there to achieve? If there are no goals to fulfill, life is empty.
