somebody who knows about sony digital camera settings?
when i have my camera on ‘auto’ it takes really crappy photos.
In my program settings it has settings like
-EV
-Focus
-Metering Mode
-White Balance
-ISO
-P.Quality
-REC Mode
-Flash Mode
Could someone PLEASE tell me what all of these mean?
You don’t ask for much, eh?
You don’t mention which Sony camera, so not sure if there are Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, etc. modes, too.
Let’s cover the top ones.
- ISO: sensitivity. Higher speed means you can shoot in lower light situations, but you’ll sacrifice by increasing noise on your shots.
- White Balance: Unlike film, a digital sensor sometimes gets confused and needs to be taught what white is. The light put off by incandescent lights is very different than fluorescent.
- Flash mode: on…or off, I imagine.
- Metering mode: usually whether to take the whole scene into account or just what’s in the center of the view-finder or some combination.
- EV: whether you want the picture over-exposed, under-exposed, etc.
- P.Quality: picture quality probably. Levels from Best or Very Fine to crappy, but it’s probably not called that on the menu.
- REC mode. No idea. Maybe single shot or continuous or bracketed.
I’m guessing you don’t have a manual? Might wanna check out Sony’s website to see if you can download one.
